В феврале 2012 г. отметил свое 50-летие Институт горного дело УрО РАН. Тематика статей данного выпуска охватывает такие направления научно-исследовательской деятельности института, как освоение и комплексное использование минерально-сырьевых ресурсов Уральского региона, геомеханические и геодинамические процессы, подземная разработка месторождений, карьерный транспорт, прогнозирование и снижение риска аварий и катастроф при недропользовании с применением перспективных методов исследований.
