The paper is timed to coincide with the 35th anniversary of the Talnakh Concentrator operation, a part of the «Norilsk Nickel» Mine-and-Mill Complex transpolar operations, reviewing the main milestones of the Talnakh Concentrator upgrade and technical re-equipment Project realization (the first and the second start-up complexes) with the capacity increase to 16 million tons per year by total ores quantity. Main technical and process design details and distinctive features of certain key facilities, buildings as well as instrumentation systems of the first and the second start-up complexes are described. A brief description of the key layout and spatial arrangement concepts of the grinding and flotation sections in the main building is presented. A summary of information on the main suppliers of the process equipment within the scope of the Talnakh Concentrator technical re-equipment and introduction of the new ore processing technology is presented. The concepts related to the upgrade of the Talnakh Concentrator industrial site existing utilities systems, as well as the newly constructed tailings disposal facilities, are mentioned. An overall estimation of the Project design work as well as civil construction and erection works implementation results under the operating plant conditions is presented in the context of the succeeding plans for realization of the «Norilsk Nickel» Mine-and-Mill Complex production capacity development Strategy.
