The paper considers solid phase concentration effect in flow of slurry and its viscosity upon pipeline transport process. In the studies it is assumed that viscosity of slurry is proportional to solid particles concentration. Dependence of effective viscosity coefficient upon slurry concentration was established. Calculations of specific pressure loss in hydraulic transport of ore processing tailings were performed with and without consideration of thickened processing tailings slurry rheological properties. Efficiency of application of steel pipes with polyurethane coating in the operating system of the Kachkanarsky MCC ore processing tailings slurry hydrotransport was estimated. Total capital and operational expenses were compared with respect to each alternative of the hydrotransport system development. 10 years of operation of one slurry pipeline string with diameter of 1000 mm with polyurethane coating, if compared with conventional steel pipeline without coating under the conditions of the Kachkanarsky MCC tailings disposal system, yielded an economic effect in the amount of approximately 1060.38 million rubles.
