The paper considers possibilities of improvement of preparation production facilities of the metal working enterprises using section and sheet rolled metal due to application of waste-free shift cutting in stamps and shears. Relevance of this work is stipulated by increase in cost of rolled metal and need of putting into practice the resource-saving technologies. Traditional approaches to development of the new processes based on physical simulation are described and significant time reduction for designing and technological preparation of production in its combination with computer simulation is revealed. The simplest process — cutting of section billet by a flat punch — is researched. The results of simulation of the cutting process for long sections on a crank press and on the computer in a finite-element medium are presented. Mathematical models in the form of regression equations were developed on the basis of the experimental results for determination of geometrical parameters of the process. The stress-strain state during cutting of rolled coiled steel on strip billets using multi-disc shears incorporated in the longitudinal cutting lines is analyzed. On the basis of passive production experiment and processing of its results by statistical methods, mathematical models of geometrical parameters — quality indicators — were developed. The stress-strain state in the process of coiled steel cutting to strip billets was determined. These results made it possible to optimize the process depending on the mechanical properties of rolled products and their thickness, as well as to improve surface quality of cut billets.
