The influence of the technological parameters of roller briquetting such as the diameter of the rolls of the briquetting press and the size of the roll gap between the rolls on the gripping angle when briquetting fine materials was investigated. When constructing a model, the concept of rolling of a reduced (equivalent in volume) strip on smooth rolls was used in the work. In the calculation of the volume of the given strip, a known number of cells on the press roll and the volume of briquettes produced on a roll press for one roll of rolls were used. It is accepted that the total volume of briquettes obtained and the volume of the reduced strip for one revolution of the rolls are equal. When determining the volume, the amount of technological spillage (dropout) of the material, taken as a percentage of the volume of briquettes received, is taken into account. Further, the dimensions of the reduced strip, having a rectangular cross section, which is conventionally rolled on smooth rolls, are determined. With a known width of the roll, the thickness of the rolled reduced strip is determined. Given the radius of the roll briquetting press is reduced by an amount equal to half the thickness of the strip. On the basis of known data on the coefficients of compaction of materials, the position of material deformation zones was determined, for example, the angle of capture, similar to the process of rolling powders. To determine the angle of capture for roller briquetting of fine materials, experimental data were used to obtain briquettes on serial roller briquetting presses of the PBV series. The article discusses briquetted materials used to obtain briquettes, widely used in steelmaking. Compaction coefficients were determined for briquettes from the sieve of metallurgical lime and the cutting of aluminum wires after their mechanical grinding on shredders. A model of rolling fine materials has been built. Using the example of roller briquetting of metallurgical lime sifting, the dependence of the capture angle on the thickness of the gap between the press rolls is determined. The effect of the diameter of the rolls on the angle of capture is studied using the example of roller briquetting of the chaff of aluminum electrical wires.
