Abstract
The paper presents a technique which is based on the scientific and pilot investigations results, and applied in geomechanics substantiation of the open pit slope stability parameters for hierarchy-block rock masses, as well as the open pit benches and pit walls designs with close-to-vertical slopes, and the final pitwall technologies that minimize instability of rocks around the excavation.
Investigations were carried out with the participation of the experts of “Kovdorsky GOK” JSC and “Apatit” JSC, being funded from RFFI 09-05-12064-OFI_M.
keywords Open pit bench and wall stability, super-deep open pit design, tectonically stressed rocks, vertical bench slopes, drilling-and-blasting technique in the open pit outline zone, geomechanics substantiation.
