Shandong Weiqiao Aluminium & Electricity has awarded SMS group the final acceptance for the supplied aluminum cold rolling mill

On June 15, 2016, Shandong Weiqiao Aluminium & Electricity Co., Ltd. has awarded SMS group the Final Acceptance Certificate (FAC) for a three-stand tandem cold mill for aluminum.

The private enterprise is a subsidiary of the Weiqiao Pioneering Group, which is ranking among the top 500 companies in China. Among others, the company is running several oil-fired power stations and works for electrolytic production of aluminum.

In the course of downstream expansion, Shandong Weiqiao Aluminium & Electricity Co., Ltd. has erected an aluminum strip production complex at Zouping, Shandong Province. Apart from the tandem cold mill, SMS group has also supplied a hot rolling mill, two single-stand cold rolling mills as well as a fully automated high-bay racking system for aluminum coils to be integrated in the complex.

The tandem cold mill was delivered in a complete manner including the entire entry- and exit-side equipment. It is provided with the most advanced rolling technology by SMS group. CVC^® plus in combination with further technologies, ensuring the excellent strip quality, is included. A special feature is the High Efficiency Cooling (HEC) – newly developed by SMS group. With the HEC installed in the interstand section, the temperature-sensitive rolling oil is cooled in a most efficient way. Because of the increased cooling effect, it is possible to roll with higher rolling speeds and therefore with increased productivity.

The Multi Plate^® filter systems installed in the cold rolling facility are provided with a total cleaning capacity of 33,000 liters per hour and belong to the most powerful filter systems of this type ever supplied by SMS group. Efficient cleaning of the exhaust air is fulfilled by the Airwash™ system.

With this tandem cold mill Shandong Weiqiao Aluminium & Electricity is now capable of producing up to 2,150 millimeters wide differently alloyed aluminum strip with small final gauges up to a nominal annual capacity of 300,000 tons. In this production facility mainly challenging products, like material used for can body and can ends are produced.
