Chernye Metally
The first issue of “Chernye Metally” journal (2017) contains the most of its conventional sections. It is opened, as usual, by the section “Iron and steel news of the world”.
The section “Ironmaking” makes the readership acquainted with the new developments of Primetals Technologies (Austria) in the area of Corex process, as well as with investigation of the specialists from Kharkov regarding identifying of natural radionuclides in blast furnace slags and their consequent usage in production of building materials.
The section “Steel making” presents the new gas-tight slide gate system of Knöllinger Flo-Tec company (Germany), lowering risk of secondary steel oxidation during casting, and continuation of research of dephosphoration and desulphurization processes of 20GL steel using rare earth metals during ladle treatment; it has been conducted by the chair “Metallurgy of steel and ferroalloys” of the National University of Science and Technology “MISiS”.
Usage of nickel coatings applied via HVAF spraying on mould walls for 90-355 mm thick slab casting at EVRAZ Nizhniy Tagil Metallurgical Works is presented in the paper by Yu. S. Korobov, A. B. Kotelnikov, A. V. Kushnarev, A. A. Kirichkov; it allowed to replace imported equipment completely in this high-tech production segment.
Metal forming theme is presented in this issue by publications about the new OPExS system for efficient control of steel strip galvanizing process and about the mobile measuring system for roll pass design checking on PQF tubemaking mills (developed by CMI Industry Metals, BelgiumandSMS group, Germany respectively).
Rather large economical section includes the papers prepared by the leading German experts from “Steel” Economical Union and «Stahl und Eisen” journal, as well as from European Investment Bank and PricewaterhouseCoopers company. They are devoted to analysis of the current state of international iron and steel industry and its development forecasts until 2025.
The issue also presents the detailed review about XIV Congress of Steelmakers that has been conducted in October 2016 in Elektrostal.
