The first paper of the issue «World Ocean: historical lessons and modern problems» shows the problems of investigation and mastering of the World Ocean's mineral resources by three mineral types: iron-manganese concretions, cobalt-manganese crusts and deep-water polymetallic sulfides.
The paper «Analysis of deverlopment of coal industry in Far Eastern Federal District in 2000-2015» shows the dynamics of extraction of coking and energetic coals, coal import and export supplies, main capital investments of coal enterprises and prospective ways of development of coal regional generation and prospects of construction of modern coal terminals in Far Eastern Federal District.
This February is the 55-th anniversary of the Institute of Mining of the Ural Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences. It's members' article tells about the history of this institute and its fundamental and applied investigations in coal mining.
