Chernye Metally
The 6th issue of “Chernye Metally” journal (2017) contains the most of its conventional sections. It is opened, as usual, by the section “Iron and steel news of the world” and “News of metallurgical companies”.
The section “Ironmaking” opens by publication by the specialists from Magnitogorsk State Technical University. The authors have examined the effect of temperature and pressure of blast furnace gases on variation of the space between the contact surfaces of a cone and a vessel in order to improve tightness of a charging unit.
Another two articles in this section are presented by German authors. J.-F. Stumper et al. Described the new 3D-TopScan section gauge to provide continuous charge scanning. Publication by W. Hartig and his colleagues is devoted to commercial usage of different titanium-bearing products in blast furnaces, e.g. ilmenite and rutilite.
The section ”Steel making” includes two papers. The specialists from Magnitogorsk State Technical University have studied possibilities of usage of siderite iron ore from Bakalskoe deposit (Chelyabinsk region) as a complex cooling material for flux in the case of partial scrap replacement, and also as slag-forming material.
The authors from SGL Pro Europe and SGL Group have presented CEDIS system – the specialized information system for control and management in an electric steelmaking shop.
“Metal forming” section in this issue makes the readership acquainted with innovations of thyssenkrupp Steel Europe in the field of simulation of steel melting and heavy plate rolling processes, as well as with operation experience of improved combustion technology developed by Swiss Melting Technologies.
Ya.I. Kosmatskiy from the All-Russian Institute of Tube Industry has presented the research of material of hot-extruded pipe with helical inner ribbed surface. The procedure of heat treatment providing receiving of homogeneous ferrite-pearlite structure has been determined.
The issue also includes publications in the following sections: “Innovative development” and “Economics and finances”.
