Gornyi Zhurnal
July 2017 issue of Gornyi Zhurnal (Mining Journal) is structured classically as a set of the customary sections.
The issue opens with a package of articles under the general head Mineral Wealth—The Basis for Economic Advancement. The articles are devoted to the oncoming XXI Session of the CIS Intergovernmental Council for mineral exploration, use and preservation, and Gornyi Zhurnal is the basic publication of the Council. The authors of the articles assess metal and rare metal ore reserves, which acquire increasingly high importance in Russian economy, give some little-known information on mineral resources in the Sakhalin Region and describe activities of the Institute of Geology at the Dagestan Science Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences on studies into mineral wealth of the Republic. An emphasis should be laid on the article devoted to mineral and raw material supply in China. It is noteworthy that the delegation of the Peoples’ Republic of China attended the previous XX Session of the Intergovernmental Council as an observer and expressed a desire to continue the cooperation. This article is the first publication on the specified subject in Russian periodicals.
Amidst the other articles, in spotlight can be put the article prepared by the team of authors from the Institute of Mining of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences on transition processes in the course of hybrid mining and the article on experimental processing of waste at Kamysh-Burun Mining and Processing Plant in the Republic of Crimea, with the production of standard quality concentrate suitable for iron recovery.
