Chernye Metally
The 5th issue of “Chernye metally” journal (2018) includes the most of its usual sections.
It is opened by the section “Preparation of raw materials” that includes two papers. The first one is devoted to experimental verification of possibility of using electrochemical technology for the preparation of waters and cationic reagents collectors in order to improve technological parameters of flotation rough magnetite concentrates isolated from unoxidized ferruginous quartzites by wet magnetic separation. The second article presents the results of a study of the mineralogical composition of agglomerates obtained with the use of additives from brown ironstone ores of the Novokievsky deposit, clays of the Voskresenskoye deposit, serpentinitomagnesite of the Khalilovskoye field.
“Steel making” section observes the investigations of the foreign specialists in the fields of inert gas bottom purging to rise efficiency of basic converter melting and rise of operating parameters in LD converter owing to the new auxiliary manipulator.
In the section “Continuous casting and foundry production” the scientists from Nizhniy Novgorod State Technical University presented the innovative technology of manufacture of shell ceramic forms for fabrication of castings on removable models.
“Rolling and other metal forming processes” section includes the papers by German and Russian authors. The first one testifies that exact determination of the strip geometrical parameters (first of all its width) can be realized in hot rolling mills using radar locating equipment and sensors. The developed system has been effectively tested and optimized in the roughing group of the rolling mill at Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH. The second article is devoted to preliminary straightening of steel strip; the results of the investigation can be used in the metallurgical plants in the production of steel sheets from the hot-rolled coils.
The section “Coating and surface finishing” is also presented by two articles. The specialists from thyssenkrupp Rasselstein and two other German institutions examined measurement of chromium (VI) concentration in exhausted gases in chromium coating unit to provide reliability of operation of exhausted gases cleaning and meet their requirements on ultimate allowable values of emissions in these gases, owing to continuous control of chromium (VI) content. The specialists from Chuvash State University researched the influence of phosphate borate compounds on anti-corrosion stability of carbon steel in neutral water environment. It has been shown that phosphate borate compounds are effective anticorrosive additives and they have a greater inhibitory ability than sodium pentaborate, sodium tetraborate, sodium metaborate and trisodium phosphate taken separately.
The issue also contains the papers in the sections “HR policy and labour protection” and “Economics and finances”.
