The ninth issue of the “Chernye metally” journal is presented by its traditional sections, and an insert dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victor Rashnikov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PJSC MMK, opens it.
The results of the international youth scientific-practical conference Magnitogorsk Rolling Practice 2018 held at the MSTU named after G. I. Nosov have been introduced by A. G. Korchunov, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Vice-Rector for International Affairs.
In the “Steel Production” section, domestic experts published studies on increasing the efficiency of steel deoxidation and desulfurization due to a new deoxidizing mixture, a distinctive feature of which is the dispersity of the components, as well as new recommendations for improving the slag mode of electric smelting, which can improve the lining service life. The publication of foreign researchers described the shock pulse method which for the first time provides accurate information about the state of slowly rotating parts of equipment.
The "Continuous Casting and Foundry Engineering" section presents research on indirect and direct methods for assessing the secondary metal oxidation processes in a continuous caster tundish during casting, on the effect of alloying by nitrated ferrochrome on the surface strength of high-manganese steel castings, and on increasing the modifying and refining effect when using a pulsed impact of an additional high-intensive source, operating on the basis of electropulse effect, on the molten iron.
Results of theoretical and experimental studies of the lubricant film thickness in the friction units are in publications of the "Repair and Maintenance" section.
