September 2019 Issue of Mining Journal (No. 9, 2019) is afestschriftdedicated to Russia’s large mining companies Uralmekhanobr, Kirov Division of Apatit group and VNIMI. The selected articles sump up the results achieved by these companies in handling challenges in the field of mineral mining.
Particular interest of readers will be attracted by the festive publications in honor of the Apatit’s Kirov Division 90th Anniversary. The selection opens with an interview given to Mining Journal by the President of the Board, PhosAgro CEO A.A. Guriev. He offers copious information on versatile activities of the affiliated Kirov Division, its production and social policy. The other publications on Apatit’s Kirov Division are contributed by representatives of the Company’s management and display the latest achievements in the area of mineral mining and processing.
The Science and Industry section presents the article prepared by Academician of the Kazakhstan National Academy of Sciences B.R. Rakishev under the title: Mining, Metallurgy and Development of Civilization. This think piece tracks the role of the mining and metallurgical industry at different phases of human society and in the course of industrial revolutions.
The article submitted by the university fellows from Siberia analyzes accident and injury rates in coal mines in Kuzbass. The disclosed trends sensitize occupational health and protection services to make needful decisions on social risk reduction in mines.
