October 2019 Issue of Mining Journalopens with a congratulatory address of the Belgorod Region Governor E. S. Savchenko to the VIOGEM Institute team for the 60th Anniversary of this top-ranked research center in the area of mineral site dehydration, special mining operations, subsurface geology and surveying. The articles contributed by the VIOGEM fellows reflect milestones of the Institute and principal areas of research and achievements.
A good part of this issue is offered to the selected papers prepared by the scientists from the Chinakal Institute of Mining, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in honor of the Institute’s 75th Anniversary. The papers discuss problems connected with geomechanical information service in surface and underground mines, as well as urgent issues of mining machinery design.
The other interest-arousing material embraces two contributions from fellows of the Russian State Geological Prospecting University named after Sergo Ordzhonikidze. Published in the Economy, Organization and Management Section, these articles consider risks of mineral mining on a concession base as well as innovations in formation of new integration structures in the mining business in Russia. Fellows of the Mining Institute, Kola Science Center RAS and the Kirovsk Branch Apatit justify integrated solutions enabling enhancement of underground mining capacity and improvement of mining safety in case of challenging geomechanics and geodynamics of rock masses.
