Chernye Metally

The Chernye Metally journal No. 2-2022 has been published, which is mainly devoted to pipe rolling and production, as well as machine-building technologies. It is headed with an introductory article by Prof. O.I. Boriskin, a member of the editorial board, director of the Polytechnic Institute of Tula State University.

The Foundry section publishes an article by the authors of the Navoi State Mining Institute, which presents the results of a study of the structure of castings from white wear-resistant cast irons.

The Rolling and production of pipes section covers the issues of determining the in-plane anisotropy of rolled sheets, taking into account the influence of the intensity of deformation (Kaluga branch of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University and Tula State University), the requirements for graphite-containing lubricants and equipment for applying to a controlled-movable mandrel in the manufacture of pipes from stainless steel grades in a continuous mill line (JSC RusNITI).

Two articles in this section were prepared by NUST MISIS specialists; they are devoted to a quantitative assessment of the conditions for the formation of axial fracture during helical rolling (N.M. Vavilkin) and elastic-plastic bending of a steel sheet (V.N. Shinkin, this is the second part of the article, and the first was published in the Chernye Metally journal No. 3, 2021).

The Metal Science and Metallography section presents articles devoted to the study of non-metallic inclusions as an indicator of the impact strength of car castings made of 20GL steel (Bryansk State Technical University); the authors of PJSC KAMAZ and the Naberezhnye Chelny Institute of Kazan Federal University shared their experience in using 18KhGR steel for gear parts of a car.

Article by the authors of the Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after R. E. Alekseev considers the issues of studying the fatigue strength of steel 09G2S, obtained on the basis of three-dimensional printing by electric arc welding, in a wide range of low temperatures.

The Machine-Building Technologies section will be of interest for readers with articles by the authors of St. Petersburg Mining University, Estonian University of Natural Sciences, Kursk and Tula State Universities, Tula State University. In these publications, the methods of using composite powders in the process of magnetic-abrasive machining of taps to improve the quality of threads in articles made of corrosion-resistant steels are studied, the possibility of hardening stamping tools by surfacing them with special electrodes OZSh-1 and TsN-4, followed by nitrocarburizing, as well as physical modeling of deformation of a steel bushing under axial compression of an elastic-plastic vibration-damping element of a milling mandrel is considered.

The same issue presents publications on the Ecology and Recycling" and Economics and Finance sections.

The Chronicle section contains material dedicated to the memory of Anatoly Grigoryevich Svyazhin.
