This article finishes the series of publications of S. A. Ilin, V. S. Kovalenko and D. V. Pastikhin in Gornyi Zhurnal (Mining Journal). These publications described the status and prospects of opencast mining in Russia. These series consist of three articles, which consider the open-cast mining in its various aspects (against the underground mining; in ecological field; according to the possibility of the following growth of economic efficiency) and four articles, which describe the development of open-cast mining in large regions of Russia (European part of Russia, Ural, Siberia and Far East). Russian Far East includes significant reserves of various mineral products. The most spread solid minerals are coal, iron ores, gold, mining-chemical raw materials and natural construction materials. All these minerals are extracted, using mostly the open-cast mining (over 80% of the total extraction). Among the open-cast mining, which was accepted to the objects mastering, there are defined some deposits, which potential has a global importance: -Elga black coal deposit with 22. bln. t of coal reserves; -Tarynnakh iron ore deposit with more than 1 bln. t of ore reserves; -Natalkinskoe gold ore deposit with near 2 th. t of gold reserves. Open cast mining of the foregoing and other deposits will be conductive to acceleration of industrial and social-economic development of this Far Eastern region of Russia. |
