This article describes the history of creation, development and modern status of Science Center «Eastern Scientific-Research Institute» JSC (former Eastern Scientific-Research Institute of Mine Operations Safety). Directions of activity of the Science Center are described together with its structure, materials base and development prospects. Science Center «Eastern Scientific-Research Institute», which was created on the basis of branch of Makeevka Scientific-Research Institute of Mine Operations Safety, has the following basic directions of activity: scientific, technical and informational provision of mining industry in Kuzbas, Central Asia and Far East. This Science Center on Mine Operations Safety was created on the basis of Institute in 1996 and was reformed into the joint-stock company in 2007. Nowadays, the following departments are functioning at the Science Center «Eastern Scientific-Research Institute»: three experimental centers; three experimental laboratories; one laboratory of nondestruction control; three certification subdivisions; and one expert organization on industrial safety, accredited by Rostechnadzor. This expert organization prepares the industrial safety conclusions on design works, engineering solutions and facilities for coal and mining branches of industry. 45 experts with significant professional experience are working in the area of expertize and certification. A quarter of all members of laboratories have academic degrees. 13 Doctors and 16 Candidates of Engineering Sciences are working in the Institute. The Institute has a post-graduate course. Scientific potential of the Science Center «Eastern Scientific-Research Institute» allows to realize the science-methodical researches and developments on provision of safe and comfort labor conditions for miners. Nowadays, the Institute collaborates with Institutes of Russian Academy of Sciences, and participates in development and realization of federal and regional target-oriented programs, which provides the connection between business and science and corresponds to introduction of fundamental scientific developments in production. Among the whole variety of scientific-research institutes, expert and certification centers, which are functioning in Russia, Science Center «Eastern Scientific-Research Institute» is one, which renders the complex services of science-methodical accompainment of mining enterprises. Material base of Institute makes possible to carry out the experiments and certification of UIJ, and high-level realization of projects. Institute has more than 200 test benches; various measurement, analytical and testing devices; powerful computer equipment; pressroom; work rooms and testing laboratories (testing areas) with total area of over 10 th. m². Funds of scientific-technical library include near 54 thousands of books.
