The enterprises being the partners of VDEh Steel Institute have discussed at the round table “New developments in metal forming” the aimed modernization of the existing metal forming plants and mills. This round table has been organized under chairmanship of Dr. Ulrich Roeske, the Chairman of ThyssenKrupp Rassel-stein GmbH in Andernach. It was shown that expanding of production facilities and improvement of products quality can be achieved via consequent technical policy, usage of innovative technical solutions, optimization of rolling process and increase of equipment service life. New materials for work rolls and possibilities of usage of innovative Zn–Mg–Alsystems for coating were discussed. The examples of medium-plate rolling mill at TKSE Hoesch Hohenlimburg plant, new HSS work rolls for back stands at wide hot strip mill, application of ceramic work rolls in hot and cold roll-ing mills were also considered.
