ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe company has renewed the equipment for coils transportation in the framework of modernization of the wide hot strip mill No. 2. At the same time, the existing control system for material flows and warehousing management has been replaced by the standard expert system TWMS/metals based on the production regulations. It was also expanded functionally in such way that it corresponds now to the specialized requirements for coils transportation. The developed PFSBAT system is a functional expansion of the standard expert system TWMS/metals. This system is devoted for management of transportation and warehousing process in metallurgical and metal working industries, starting from continuous casting and finishing by delivery of finished products. It provides visualization of warehousing outside the shop and optimization of these processes at the plant completely, if required. The number of crane transfers is also decreased. In this way the warehouse operation is optimized for each product, transportation time is decreased, operating reliability is risen. The system is compatible with ERP- and MES-systems as well as with basic automation and sensor devices.
