The main decisions taken at the UN Climatic Summit in Paris in the area of climate saving policy were connected with strengthening of quote trades for emissions in Europe since 2021 as well as with large amount of all-European and national packages of climate measures and environment protection. In this connection, the challenges arisen before the German metallurgy seems to be very dangerous. At the same time iron and steel works are obliged with responsibility for climate saving in their regions, but they also need to feel themselves surely in the conditions of strict global competition. These problems have been also discussed in the framework of the “round table” at the annual metallurgical summit in Düsseldorf; politicians and steel producers have considered the existing tension and tried to answer the question: if German and European steelmaking industry has chances for prospective stable development?
