Voestalpine Schienen GmbH is a European leader in rail production including 120 mm long rails. High quality requirements include 100% control for defects and dimension precision. Thereby the contract with Nextsense GmbH for putting into practice the special equipment for recognition and visualization of even very small defects on rail surface has been concluded. Operation principle of this testing unit is based on the “shadow effect” and uses light emitting diodes with blue and red light. This unit is integrated in the rolling mill and allows to exclude manual testing operations completely.
