Agglomeration is widely used in ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy to prepare small-sized ores and finely ground concentrates for smelting. One of the methods of agglomeration is briquetting, which can be done with or without binders. For briquetting with binders, roll presses are usually used. An alternative to roll presses can be extrusion presses, the main advantages of which are obtaining very durable raw extrudates, possibility of processing wetter materials to produce briquettes of various sizes and shapes, as well as low capital and operating costs. The prospects of using the extrusion pressing method for agglomeration of iron ores have been shown. In particular, the effectiveness of application of this method for briquetting rich loose polydispersed iron ores with the aim of subsequent use of the obtained lump product in the composition of a metallurgical charge has been proved. Briquetting was carried out with binders. The results of studies of strength and other properties of extruded briquettes were presented. The physical and mechanical properties of the obtained extruded briquettes meet the requirements, which allows to use them as raw materials for the metallurgical industry. |
