The article considers the relevance of knowledge in the field of the Production System and Lean Six Sigma methodology as part of the introduction and development of digital technologies at enterprises. In existing industries, the introduction of new technologies for data processing, business intelligence and process control cannot be one-time, revolutionary. Digital transformation is an evolutionary process, the first stage of which is the elimination of losses in existing business processes and the stabilization of quality. Without this stage, the introduction of digital technology does not lead to actual improvements in the technical and financial performance of the business. In turn, the Lean Six Sigma production system and methodology make it possible to eliminate losses in business processes in a short time with maximum efficiency. But one of the main problems holding back the implementation of the Lean Six Sigma Production System and methodology in structural divisions and on production sites is the slow development of employee competencies. This problem is associated with the need to transform the already formed consciousness of employees, with their habits and experience. Currently, the development of relevant competencies is carried out by business forces with the distraction of employees from their core business. A similar approach to developing the competencies of our own employees, taking into account the length of the process, is highly costly for the business. One of the possible ways to solve this problem is to update the curriculum for the training of engineers and masters in higher educational institutions. This article presents a model of cooperation between business and the university in terms of training for the digital transformation of enterprises using the example of a master’s program at the Department of OMD of LSTU at the Lean Six Sigma green belt level for PJSC NLMK. Broadcasting the experience of LSTU to other specialties and universities will solve some of the problems in the field of training for the digital transformation of business and contributes to the successful implementation of the national program “Digital Economy of the Russian Federation”.
