The article discusses the use of VR/AR technologies (virtual and augmented reality technologies) in the design process of metallurgical equipment parts, while the design stages are interrelated with the product life cycle. VR/AR technologies are included in the design process as part of the implementation of the product life cycle. The use of modern automated design tools (CAD programs (computer aided design) — Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Autocad, Compass-3D, SolidWorks) in conjunction with VR/AR technologies, as separate design stages, allows you to make the design process efficient, affordable, intuitive, eliminate possible inconsistencies in the process of preparing project documentation. Using computer-aided design tools, three-dimensional models of parts and assembly units of metallurgical equipment are created, their visualized images and drawings for project documentation, as well as animated videos of the unit operation, design, installation or assembly of equipment — all this serves as content when developing virtual and augmented reality applications for the needs of an industrial enterprise. The use of VR/AR technologies in the design of metallurgical equipment is described by us as an example of a model of the assembly of an injection dust collector.
