The piercing of blanks and their rolling into tubes are the main technological operations that affect the quality and accuracy of tubes produced on screw rolling mills. It is obvious that the wear of the technological tool has a significant impact on the quality of products and the performance of the tube rolling unit. The article presents the results of an experimental study of the wear resistance of cylindrical mandrels during the rolling of tubes made of corrosion-resistant steel 13Cr. In the work, during the rolling of 8 tubes, mandrels made from tool steels of grades 4Kh5MFS (H11 AISI), 3Kh3M3F (H10 AISI), 5Kh3V3MFS (30WCrV17-2 DIN), 20Kh2N4A (3120 AISI), as well as mandrels coated with particles of aluminum and its oxide by cold gas dynamic spraying (CGS) were tested. As a result, a visual analysis of the state of the surface of tubes and mandrels was carried out, a measurement of material resistance, changes in the diametrical dimensions of the mandrels along the length, and a change in surface roughness. Based on the results obtained, it can be assumed that the most acceptable material among those studied, which makes it possible to reduce the tendency to seizure of the rolled metal on the surface of the rolling tool, is steel 4Kh5MFS or with coating on the surface mandrels of heat-resistant composites by the CGS method.
The work was carried out as part of a comprehensive project on the topic “Development and implementation of integrated technologies for production of seamless pipes from new generation steels with controlled corrosion resistance under difficult operating conditions for the fuel and energy complex of the Russian Federation” within the framework of Agreement No. 075-11-2023-011 dated 02/10/2023 according to Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 218 of 04/09/2010.
