The performance of installations, apparatus and instruments is largely determined by the wear resistance of their parts. The most catastrophic type of wear is abrasive one: from direct contact of the tooth of a powerful mining excavator with a monolith of blasted rock to several grains of dust in the friction zone of a precision pair. For restoration of body parts made of gray cast iron SCh20 after abrasive wear, the most suitable method is cold gas-dynamic spraying. This method of repairing damage in the form of cracks, holes and chips is based on ensuring the adhesive strength of gas-dynamic coatings on a cast iron base by preparing the surface for spraying. The improvement of the performance properties of SCh20 cast iron by supersonic gas-dynamic spraying has been considered, and the formation of a spray layer of RotoTec 29029S metal powder with a particle size distribution of 150–200 μm on samples measuring 30×20×15 mm has been studied. The aim of the work is to improve the performance properties of SCh20 cast iron by supersonic gas-dynamic spraying of powder materials.
