Реферат

The article is dedicated to the great scientist and metallurgist, a graduate of the Department of Metallurgy of the Mining Institute (graduation year 1885) Vladimir Efimovich Grum-Grzhimailo, who turned 160 years old in 2024. The knowledge and experience in the field of ferrous metallurgy, acquired by him within the walls of the country’s first higher technical educational institution, was realized and implemented at many domestic enterprises. The article examines the stages of formation and development paths of the great scientist and practitioner, starting with the development of the theory of combustion furnaces, injection of industrial Bessemer processes at domestic metallurgical plants. The past years and the rapid development of the metallurgical industry with an increase in the
level of modern technology allow us to take a fresh look at the scientific activity and significance of the scientist’s works, as well as appreciate their full depth and scope. Many of the fundamental foundations and principles for the design of metallurgical units laid down by V. E. Grum-Grzhimailo are reflected in the scientific works and affairs of scientists and researchers at the St. Petersburg Mining University of Empress Catherine II.
