| Abstract | The article presents the positive experience of joint international cooperation between scientists and mining engineers from Russia and Kazakhstan in the implementation of active and passive types of rock bolt and mixed-type supports for reinforcement of preparation headings in the conditions of chromium ore mining, which are complicated by natural and anthropogenic factors. In the scope of pilot-scale tests, the rating assessment of rock mass was carried out, the geotechnical assessment of adjacent rock mass was performed by sampling ore and rock cores at the test sites, and the physical and mechanical characteristics of the samples were determined. The visual videoendoscopic examination of the surface of the drilled holes was conducted, which allowed an accurate initial assessment of adjacent rock mass of mine excavations in the test sites in terms of stratification and fracturing zones, for the subsequent assessment and prediction of the stability of the mine excavations. During the testing phase, the intensity of displacements and the real-time monitoring of roof rock stratification in the test areas was performed at the locations of stationary reference stations RG-3 with three displacement indicators. During the pilot-scale trials, the active and passive types of rock bolt and mixed-type supports were introduced and tested in experimental sections of mine excavations located in difficult geological conditions and in the abutment pressure zones on Levels –175 m and ±0 m. The comparison of the support options was made in experimental sections of mine excavations. The performance of different types of supports is compared. The recommendations are made for the further improvement of the support systems in order to increase stability of mine excavations and stabilize enclosing rock mass in the given geological conditions. |
