The collaborative research centre “Steel ab initio” has been established by Deutsche orschungsgemeinschaft at RWTH Aachen University and Max-Planck-Institute of Ferrous Research. Scientists and Engineers cooperate within 16 projects on the development of new materials. Ab initio approaches, based on nature constants, are used together with mesoscopic simulation. New methods for the fast and focused development of a new materials group shall be evaluated.
