In the context of process automation the complete process chain in the Siegen steel works of Deutsche Edelstahlwerke is represented in different process and analytical models. Using the example of low-alloyed engineering steel the process and analytical models used will be introduced. Moreover, the use of the global temperature model and the analytical model of the ESR process is described. At the end a short overview of further developments will be given.
