The basis of mineral raw material base of Iran is hydrocarbons: oil and gas (the 3rd and 2nd position in the world correspondingly), and it’s the base of the country economics. But in last years extraction of solid useful minerals, such as coal, metal-bearing ores, non-metallic raw materials, natural stone and etc. has been strenuously developed. The volume of geological prospecting and exploration works in this area has raised. Geological Service of Iran (GSI) realizes geological prospecting works in the country. There are several attainments of GSI in area of solid minerals exploration, as: large-scale prospecting works of gold in 12 country provinces, research of mineral objects of porphyritic type of copper; development of new lead and zinc deposits; potash founding (about 4 mln tones has founded). The national data base of the Earth researching, called NGDIR, opened under the GSI control, start collecting of data about 155 directions of the Earth sciences, the work will have finished in 2013. It has been noticed, that widening of scale of geological prospecting works in the country has been accompanied by expedited development of mining industry. The characteristic of development degree of mineral raw material base of Iran has been conduced for several types of solid useful minerals.
