Regional geological researches (RGR) at Ukraine are executed in context of “Complex interdepartmental programs of works”, confirmed by State Geological Service of Ukraine and National Academy of Sciences (Ukraine). The researches are realized at near 200 objects and connected with preparation of State Geological Maps with 1: 200 000 scale. The results of geological researches, realized in Western region of Ukraine, such as Carpathian basin, Infolded Carpathians of Transcarpathian region, cross-border region with Poland, is presented in the paper. In Ukraine traditions of carrying out RGR are not only supported, but also had new development. By the law of Ukraine, on mineral and raw material base development preparation of State Geological Maps is a priority direction and it is defined to make geological additional examination of the areas on the scale of 1: 200 000 for the purpose of drawing up, preparation and the edition of the State Geological Ukraine Map of scale 1: 200 000. On an example of the western region of Ukraine it is shown, what basic results are received in the course of carrying out Geological To Studying of the Areas-200 and have found the reflection on prepared for the edition and the published complete sets of the State Geological Maps-200. Now the stage of the works connected with creation by State Geological Maps-200 in Ukraine approaches to its end. Besides, for last decades on all territory of the country hydro-geological and exploration works on various kinds of minerals were undertaken, and their results will be completely used at drawing up of State Geological Maps-50.
