Gornyi Zhurnal
The most important ways of increasing of working efficiency of mining industry are provision of safety of technological processes, application of modern technics and technology and decreasing of production influence on ecology to permissible level.
During the whole time of existing of mining operations, one of the most important problems was provision of safety and saving of mining workers’ life. In the XX century, in spite of the wide introduction of science intensive productions, this problem did not lose its urgency and got a new complex nature in connection with increasing of mining scales and increasing of volumes of extraction and processing of minerals.
The 5-th issue of Gornyi Zhurnal (Mining Journal) (May, 2014) includes articles, which share the tasks of provision of industrial safety and labor protection in mining industry.
This issue considers various mining questions, such as aerology of open pits and mines, provision of methane safety and dust-removal of coal massifs of mines, and ways of utilization of toxic wastes of industry and seismic safety. Undoubtedly, this is the small part of problems, connected with provision of safety in the time of mastering of mineral resources and requiring the complex approach.
The editorial staff of the journal expresses its gratitude to Semen G. Gendler (Doctor of Engineering Sciences, Professor of National Mineral Resources University (Saint Petersburg)) for great methodical and operational work on collection of articles for this issue.
