On July 22, 1954, the Ministry of Non-ferrous Metallurgy of USSR made a decision about organization of directorate of constructed Uchaly Mining and Metallurgical Combine. Nowadays, this Combine is a high-technological enterprise, included in the structure of dynamically developed Ural industrial concern «UMMC-Holding». A number of articles, describing information about the status and prospects of development of industrial capacities of one of the largest Russian copper-sulfur ores extraction enterprises, is devoted to the 60-th anniversary of the Combine.
Two articles of this issue are devoted to a 100-th anniversary of Ural State Mining University, which is celebrated on July 2014. First article tells about the history of the University, its existing scientific schools, directions of researches et al. The second article describes the results of works of University personnel in the sphere of research of mechanical properties of materials, applied as impervious screens in the time of gold heap leaching.
The rest part of the issue consists of the articles, which are placed in the basic sections of the journal and are attached to the problems of development of deposits, mineral concentration, economics of mining enterprises et al.
Turning back to the beginnings, when the journal had a very wide profile and shared all sides of geology, the editorial board decided to turn over the description of technical achievements, industrial experience and recent engineering developments in economical areas, adjoining with mining industry (first of all, oil-and-gas production), such as: geological prospecting technology, well drilling, arrangement of industrial sites, environmental protection, rotating schedules, road construction et al.
