Chernye Metally
The No. 10 issue of "Chernye metally" journal is opened by the conventional sections “Iron and steel news of the world” and “News of metallurgical companies” and finalized by another also usual section “Steel as material”.
The section "Development of metallurgy in Russia and other CIS countries" includes 5 publications.
First of all we attract attention of our readers to the large survey by Yu.L. Adno (Institute of Global Economics and Foreign Relations) about the state of the Russian and global iron and steel industry in 2015; this state can be briefly characterized as “Instability and uncertainty”.
Two consequent articles are devoted mainly to the ecological problems.
I.V. Butorina and I.K. Kapustin (St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University) have examined the sources of dust forming in rolling production, have determined its properties and have displayed the relationship between dust forming and cooling method of rolled products.
O.E. Surov and V.A. Kompanets (Far East Federal University) have investigated the features of corrosion destruction of the outer shell plating in ships, made of manganese steel. They have also shown possibilities of lowering of corrosion wear and have presented practical recommendations for differentiated examination of different kinds of ships.
The paper by J. Mellenthin and Y. Cakir is also devoted to ecological theme. The authors have described the new researches of SMS Siemag in the field of power efficient gas cleaning.
The section “Iron and steelmaking” presents the interesting article of the leading German specialists in the field of blast furnace practice H.B. Lüngen, M. Peters and P. Schmöle. It observes current state and development prospects of ironmaking in Western Europe. Another publication of this section is devoted to analysis of operation results of No. 2 blast furnace at Schwelgern works of ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe – one of the largest European steel producers.
