The 4th issue of “Chernye metally” journal (2016) is opened by conventional sections – “Iron and steel news of the world” and “News of metallurgical companies”.
K. Pykhteeva and her colleagues from Nizhniy Tagil technological institute presented the paper in the section “Preparation of raw materials”. It is devoted to calculation and theoretical analysis of iron ore concentrate prophylaxis with lime. The authors have concluded the relationships determining parameters of concentrate production and influence of different factors on concentrate quality.
D. Riedinger et al. have researched the new approaches in designing of high-current systems in electric arc furnaces. It is shown that Badische Stahl Engineering (BSE) presented two new methods of optimization of high-current systems – exact calculation of all electromagnetic effects and usage of copper-steel electrode holders.
N. Tursunov, E. Sanokulov and A. Semin presented their investigation of desulphurization of structural steel using solid slag mixtures and rare earth metals. The effect of holding duration on final sulphur content in metal and on features of variation of residual cerium content is substantiated experimentally.
Especial attention should be attracted to the article about zero waste concept in steel production. It was developed by R. Degel et al. from SMS Group. The paper described possible principles of wastes recycling, injection technologies for blast furnaces, cold briquetting and other technological ideas.
The issue also includes the usual sections “Steel as material”, “Economics and finances”, “HR policy and labour protection”.
