Chernye Metally
The 8th issue of “Chernye Metally” journal (2017) contains the most of its conventional sections. It is opened, as usual, by the section “Iron and steel news of the world” and “News of metallurgical companies”.
The section “Iron making” is completely devoted to national developments. It is opened by the article on improvement of charge preparation systems in blast furnaces. The authors – L. A. Vaisberg and his colleagues used innovative screens of new generation for this purpose.
Two other papers are presented by the specialists from Magnitogorsk State Technical University and Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works. One of them describes joint researches in improvement of blast furnace practice via creation of the conditions for rise of natural gas consumption using raw materials with increased strength. Another examines operation features of gear boxes of skip hoists through modernization of lubrication procedures and working properties of bearing blocks.
The article in “Continuous casting” section observes investigations of assimilation of non-metallic inclusions by mould slag. It was established on the base of slag forming mathematical model that average chemical composition of such inclusions entering slag corresponds to manganese oxides.
“Coating and surface processing” section includes the papers presented by German companies – Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung (improvement of skin pass rolling technology using work rolls with Topocrom galvanized steel coating) and Deutsche Edelstahlwerke (scale removal from wire coils via water pulverization).
I. I. Barankova et al. have described the advantages of induction heating in heat treatment based on the experimental results obtained at Magnitogorsk and Moscow plants. Possibility of achieving of the required mechanical properties and microstructure for wire and wire rod is confirmed and practical recommendations for heating rate and heating temperature are given.
The issue also includes publications in the following sections: “Power engineering and ecology”, “Economics and finances” and “Chronicle”.
