Chernye Metally
The 1st issue of “Chernye metally” journal (2018) is opened as usual by the sections “Iron and steel news of the world” and “News of metallurgical companies”.
This journal includes several publications devoted to the new developments at EVRAZ NTMK JSC. The specialists of this integrated works described innovations and operation experience in the fields of blast furnace practice and rolling: improvement of vanadium technological stage and analysis of vanadium behaviour in the conditions of high intensity of blast furnace ironmaking.
Other papers from Nizhniy Tagil observed the example of technical efficiency of the complex of measures aimed on increase of service life and operation resistance of dies used in railroad wheels production, as well as the main milestones of designing, construction and putting into operation wide flange beam mill 40 years ago.
The foreign paper in the “Rolling and metal forming” section presents the new CaliView measuring system designed and manufactured by SMS group and put into practice at Vallourec plant for proper control of rolling process.
Other scientific and technical articles in this issue are devoted to preliminary oxidation of alloyed steel strips in continuous galvanizing lines (thyssenkrupp Steel Europe), to efficient technological control at a pickling line (Salzgitter Flachstahl), to production of high-alloyed steel strips via Hicon/H2 annealing method (Ebner Industrieofenbau), to physical and numerical simulation of behaviour of refractories in steelmaking shops (RHI AG), to quality control of technological processes (HKM – Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann).
The section “Metallurgical history” includes publication by Olga Rodina, the head of EVRAZ NTMK museum and exhibiting complex, about development history and achievements of the metallurgical works and Nizhniy Tagil city itself.
The 3rd International scientific and practical conference “Modern technologies in engineering and foundry production”, that has been conducted in Cheboksary in December 2017, is observed by Prof. Ilya Illarionov.
