Chernye Metally
The 2nd issue of “Chernye metally” journal (2018) is opened as usual by the sections “Iron and steel news of the world” and “News of metallurgical companies”.
The experience of the pilot agglomeration unit with replacement of manual control to fully automatized is described in the section “Iron making”.
The next section “Steel making” is devoted to complex application of the melting model for electric arc furnace, including calculation module of a gas cleaning system.
The section “Continuous casting and foundry production” is presented by three papers. The specialists from ArcelorMittal and SMS group revealed the causes of side cracks origination on bloom billets during casting of crack-sensitive materials. Another paper was prepared by the authors from Volgograd State Technical University examined in details inert gas blowing of metal melt jet and its influence on metal quality for stainless steel 38KhNMFA steel forged ingots. The last publication in this section (from Nizhniy Novgorod State Technical University) described development of resource-saving technologies and usage of heat treatment wastes in exothermic mixes.
Joint publication of the National University of Science and Technology “MISiS” and Abinsk Electrometallurgical Plant observed usage of non-destructive control methods (thermoelectric power) for analysis of carbon and silicon content in steel, iron and ferroalloys.
The issue also contains the papers on plate rolling and straightening, automation systems for lifting equipment, current situation in the German iron and steel industry, preparation of the designing and engineering specialists in metallurgy.
The special insert is devoted to 60th anniversary of Alexander Vorobiev, chief editor of “Ore and Metals” publishing house.
