Tsvetnye Metally
The February issue of Tsvetnye Metally features articles in the following sections: Economics and Management of Production; Benefication; Heavy Non-Ferrous Metals; Noble Metals and Alloys; Light Metals, Carbon Materials; Materials Science, and Metal Processing. The Chronicle section features two reviews of the papers presented at the 29th International Mineral Processing Congress IMPC 2018and the 7th International Conference Aluminium-21/Recycling, which took place in the autumn 2018.
The authors of one of the papers published in the Heavy Non-Ferrous Metalssection analysed the experimental data obtained and came up with a process diagram for the oxidized nickel ores of the Serov deposit which encompasses thermochemicla processing, water leaching and deposition of nickel and cobalt hydroxides.
In the article: Hydrothermal Processing of Copper-Zinc Sulfide Concentrates, the authors from the Department of Comprehensive Processing of Man-Made Materials at Kazakhmys, the Ural Federal University named after the First President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin and the Gidrometallurgiya Research Centre reveal that they developed a process diagram for low-grade concentrates which can be implemented to the degree of 80% at the Balkhash Zinc Plant in Kazakhstan currently going through revamping.
The Light Metals, Carbon Materialssection features an article telling about how the size distribution of cryolite-alumina charge is related to the formation of crust in an aluminium electrolysis cell. The authors from the Siberian Federal University and RUSAL’s Engineering and Technology Centre found that a higher concentration of fines would result in thick, porous crusts having higher gas permeability. At the same time, a greater concentration of recycle electrolyte fines in the charge is associated with a rising heat conductivity of the crust.
The Metal Processingsection features the following article: Deformation Behaviour of the 1565ch Alloy during Hot Uniaxial Upsetting. The data obtained by the authors can be used for equipment design and metal deformation modelling.
