Chernye Metally
The fourth issue of the "Chernye Metally" journal is opened by the publication of the "Preparation of Raw Materials" section on the nature of iron minerals distribution in sulfide, copper and polymetallic ores.
In the “Continuous casting and foundry production” section, an article of foreign experts describes automation of the casting process in the oxygen converter shop of the Tata Steel company in IJmuiden. The authors from the Volgograd University presented the research results of structural features of the cast structure of continuously cast billets from steels of preperitectic and peritectic classes with different content of alloying elements. Representatives of the Nizhny Novgorod State University published the results of the use of carbonate and ammonium carbonate additives to ensure the required properties of casting molds.
The publications of the “Pipe production” section are devoted to determine the effect of settings of a screw piercing mill tool on the nature of billet forming in a deformation zone; methods for contactless measurement of the outer diameter of a pipe along its entire length; the process of obtaining steel tubular products of variable cross-section along the length, based on the technology of longitudinal rolling in rolls with grooves of a variable profile, forming an eccentric pass.
In the “Rolling and other metal forming processes” section, the publication that discusses the theoretical foundations of the issue of deviation from the straightness of a steel cord in industrial production on double-twisting cable machines attracts attention.
The article of the "Heating and heat treatment" section is devoted to calculation and development of the pilot installation for symmetric induction hardening of metal balls used in the mining industry.
The authors of the "Coating and corrosion of surfaces" section proposed a method for treating metal surfaces and applying functional coatings with a flexible tool — rotating wire brushes. The study of the authors from the Chuvash State University of the 08kp steel corrosion process used for the manufacture of VAZ car bodies in environment simulating the road conditions of car operation, using the example of the Moscow-Ufa highway M7, is of interest.
In the section “Additive Technologies”, the article is devoted to a comparison of structures and mechanical characteristics of samples from a spheroidized powder of a heat-resistant iron-based alloy obtained from two different additive technologies routes: selective laser melting and gas-powder laser surfacing.
