Chernye Metally
The fifth issue of the Chernye Metally journal is opened by a section dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the Technology of Materials chair (head of the chair is Zyuban N. A.) of the Volgograd State Technical University. The section includes works of VolgSTU representatives - regular authors of the journal. Studies of the structural features of cast metal ingots of various geometries used to produce round steel, as well as studies of the effect of calcium carbide as a deoxidizing agent on the chemical composition and contamination by non-metallic inclusions have been presented.
The following big section of the journal contains articles on new developments of the Tula State University. Representatives of this university, in particular, proposed a theoretically accurate calculation of worm milling cutters, excluding deviations depending on the profiling method. The recommendations given by the authors will allow to increase the accuracy of the worm gear-cutting milling cutters and economically use hard alloys. This section also describes the design of the centering mandrel with enhanced vibration resistance for fixing thin-walled workpieces, which provides the set values in all respects and can be used in production.
The Heating and Heat Treatment section includes an article devoted to the study of the effect of heat treatment on residual stresses formation. The authors of the Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University proposed a method for their determination in samples of 5KhNM grade steel.
In the section devoted to the 74th anniversary of the Victory Zaparya V. V. and his colleagues from the Ural Federal University and the Institute of History and Archeology, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, posted the information detailing the history of creation of the 8C anti-tank armor for T-34 tanks during the Great Patriotic War.
Metallurgy news from various countries conclude the fifth issue.
