Starting with the May issue, we shall publish a series of articles marking the 15th anniversary of Russian Copper Company. The article included in this issue describes the company’s practice of in-situ leaching of copper at the Gumeshev deposit. This process helps expand the copper material base of the Urals region by 3.8 mln tons while preventing the penetration of copper, zinc and iron oxides from the deposit ores in the water ponds around the Sverdlovsk region
Another article featuring in the Non-Ferrous Metals section considers a new approach to selecting a technique for processing disseminated platinum-copper-nickel ores found in the Taymyr Ore Area. The paper demonstrates that the concentration process would not offer a feasible option for processing such ores and, instead, proposes a more practical solution of direct smelting in a dual-zone Vanyukov furnace.
The Metal Processing section features two articles submitted by the authors from Tula State University. The articles examine a relationship between deformation resistance and deformation rate in complex shape stamping, as well as the effect of high-temperature strain on the mechanical properties of metal.
Other articles featuring in the above section focus on brass rolling in relation to the production of both flat products and pipes.
