Tsvetnye Metally

The June issue of Tsvetnye Metally journal calls attention of the readers to the articles from the following sections: Economy and production management, Heavy non-ferrous metals, Noble metals and alloys, Light metals and carbon materials, Rare metals, Semiconductors, Composites and Multipurpose coatings, Materials science, Metal processing.

A series of articles dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Russian Copper Company is continued in this issue. In the article: Extraction of copper from the Gumeshev mine waters, the practice of implementing the extraction/electrowinning technology and possible ways to enhance it are reported.

Publication of a series of articles of the VNIIHT Institute has begun under the heading "Scientific and technical developments of the VNIIHT". Their subjects will cover engineering developments of the Institute of recent years, including the issues of complex processing of mineral raw materials, industrial and man-caused waste products to obtain valuable components and pure compounds to ensure the effective functioning of the nuclear fuel cycle and other industries. This issue contains the articles by a group of authors on hydrometallurgical and separating processes in uranium and beryllium technology.

In the Composites and Multipurpose coatings section, the collective of authors from Irkutsk National Research Technical University andInstitute of Mining at the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciencespresent theoretical and practical substantiation of utilization of the used storage batteries recycling waste as a thermal stabilizer of polyvinylchloride compositions.

In the article by M. Z. Pevzner, published in the Metal processing section there are considered the dependences of the transverse profile of the L68 and L63 brass band formation upon the profile shape of the rolling billet annealed by heating in a transverse magnetic field and the distribution of the properties across this billet, which is adjusted by changing its width relative to the width of the inductor.
