Chernye Metally
The August issue is opened by the section “Preparation of raw materials for metallurgical production”, which includes the first part of a large article devoted to the systematization of properties and parameters of foundry coke. In the first part, a concept is considered, which represents a new approach to establishing requirements for the quality of foundry coke using standardization methods - systematization, classification, optimization. Also presented is a classification of the chemical and physico-chemical properties of foundry coke with the establishment of parameters characterizing these properties, and test methods for determining the values of the corresponding parameters.
The second section - “Steel production and foundry processes” includes four articles. The authors from the Novotroitsk branch of NITU “MISiS” performed a statistical analysis of production data for the deoxidation of 3sp steel in order to improve the technology of preliminary deoxidation in the ladle. The work was carried out in the electric steel-smelting shop of JSC Ural Steel. The optimal conditions for deoxidation have been established, an increase in the technical and economic indicators of production and quality of 3sp steel has been shown by main parameters.
The team of authors representing JSC EVRAZ NTMK and EVRAZ Holding Ltd. has proposed a technology for filling the channel of the refractory cup of the slide gate, which ensures unhindered pouring of the refractory mixture from the steel pouring channel. The results of industrial melts confirming its effectiveness are presented.
Another article in this section is devoted to studies of features of ladle modification of molten iron with magnesium flux-cored wire to spheroidize graphite inclusions. Analysis of the proposed mathematical models showed that the magnesium absorption coefficient by molten iron is directly proportional to the input rate of the flux-cored wire.
The section is closed by the material from an author from the Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after R.E. Alekseev, where in the end of May 2019 a traditional scientific and practical seminar was held. This year, it was dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the birth of one of the founders of the Nizhny Novgorod scientific and pedagogical school of metallurgy and foundry A. A. Ryzhikov. The article gives a brief overview of the speeches made at the forum.
The next section includes three articles written by foreign authors. The topics of these materials were, in particular, the assessment of the refractory properties of products using modeling and simulation methods, sustainable resource saving through the use of converter slag, and modeling and optimization of a continuous strip heating furnace operation.
In the section "Metallurgy and metallography" there are two articles. The first article is devoted to expanding the capabilities of extreme value statistics for assessing the nature of large non-metallic inclusions in critical steels (authors are representatives of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University), the article written by foreign authors discusses new high-strength steel grades with improved technological properties.
The section “Powder Metallurgy” contains one article. In the author’s material from the M. I. Platov South Russian State Polytechnic University (NPI), in particular, the laws of compaction of Fe – FeMn – C mixtures processed in a planetary mill and consolidation of 110G13 powder steel with activated sintering were established, the equation parameters of compaction of mechanically activated blends of 110G13 powder steel, a modified compacting equation is proposed that takes into account the duration of mechanical activation, the Spline 3D model of influence of the mechanical activation duration and compaction pressure on pore volumetric deformation during consolidation was shown.
In the section “Machining”, authors from the Moscow Polytechnic University present research of a specimen for testing materials for plastic uniaxial compression, based on a brief analysis of the deformation process of a traditional cylindrical specimen, its main disadvantages are described. Based on the research results, a new form of the specimen for testing materials for plastic uniaxial compression was developed and justified.
The article from the section “Economics and Finance” is devoted to risk assessment in the field of export sales of finished products of a metallurgical company. Risk assessment is considered as the basis of financial security. The author from the Cherepovets State University substantiated that the rational measure is the formation of a responsibility center aimed at monitoring and reactively blocking risks.
The section “Personnel Policy and Labor Protection” included an article written by the author from the Siberian Federal University, which showed that training through a project allows to develop design and implementation competencies in professional activities, and increases the personal significance of specific disciplinary knowledge and education in general. A scheme of interactive interaction is proposed when organizing project training in accordance with the issues and tasks of real production, demonstrating the involvement of students, undergraduates, teachers and employees of manufacturing enterprises.
In the section "Our Anniversaries" the editors congratulate B.A. Sivak on his 70th birthday.
Metallurgy news close the issue.
