Tsvetnye Metally
Most of the articles in No. 8 of Tsvetnye Metally journal is devoted to the Ural school of hydrometallurgy of non-ferrous metals, which is based on the works of the joint departments of metallurgy of heavy non-ferrous, light and noble metals of the Ural Federal University named after the First President of the Russian Federation B. N. Eltsin (former UPI).
Scientists and graduates of the Ural departments have been at the forefront of the theory development, organizing and the following implementation at the Ural and Siberian factories of such technologies as leaching of diaspore-boehmite bauxites, processing of Solikamsk carnallites, processing of copper anode slime, obtaining of platinum metals, purification of zinc electrolyte, non-cyanide flotation of copper-zinc ores, development of water recycling schemes for enterprises of non-ferrous metallurgy, hydrometallurgy of copper and zinc, autoclave technologies for processing of copper, copper-zinc and polymetallic raw materials, hydrometallurgical technologies for non-ferrous metal ores processing using salt and autoclave leaching, utilization of sorption and extraction in metallurgical processes for treatment of multicomponent solutions.
In this issue, the readers will be able to get acquainted both with the individual developments of the founders of the Ural hydrometallurgical school, which has been published in Tsvetnye Metally journal in 1966-1982, and with the results of modern research aimed at perfection of hydrometallurgical technologies.
This year, JSC “Uralmekhobr” will celebrate the 90th jubilee. Throughout all the history of the Institute’s activity, it has been one of the leading industry scientific and research centers in Russia. A selection of articles by specialists of JSC “Uralmekhobr” is published in this issue by the anniversary date.
