The December issue of the journal is opened by the section devoted to the 85th anniversary of the Magnitogorsk State Technical University named after G. I. Nosov. The strategy and tactics of development of the higher educational institute as a basic university, its successes in international rankings, the educational space, achievements in research and student self-government have been presented. A large article is devoted to development of scientific schools in the field of metal processing at the MSTU, experience in the field of professional training in higher education at all levels. Of particular interest is the article telling about the internal control system, the principles of monitoring controls, the features of formation of this system in iron and steel corporations. An improved method for creating conditions for implementation of extremely optimizing control of natural gas supply, which does not require capital expenditures, was also proposed. The technology of production of ultra-low-sulfur pipe steel with a sulfur content of less than 0.0015% for production of longitudinally electric welded large-diameter pipes of high strength was described. The research results showing the high performance properties of the SHS-U lubricant were presented. This section includes a color insert dedicated to the anniversary of V. M. Kolokoltsev.

The “Rolling and other metal forming processes” section is opened by the interview with A. S. Aleshchenko, head of the NUST “MISiS”,metal forming chair dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the MISiS metal forming scientific school. A technique is proposed for determining the final value of the pipe wall thickness during plugless rolling in a wide range of total reduction values.

The “Coating and surface corrosion” section presents the technology of comprehensive protection of pipelines using silicate materials, which can significantly reduce the production costs of enameled steel pipes.

The "Heating and heat treatment" section is devoted to the possibilities of using the mathematical package MathematСonnnex for the thermotechnical calculation of heating furnaces.

The “Additive technologies” section analyzes one of the approaches to model selective laser melting of particles from the point of view of its practical application.

From the publication in the "Engineering Technologies" section the readers get to know about the modernization of the mechanism for raising the side rolls of the four-roll bending machine of the mechanical workshop of JSC Ural Steel, due to which its operational characteristics have increased.

The "Personnel Policy" section describes the training of specialists in metallurgy metrology based on the Federal State Educational Standard of Higher Professional Education in the various areas.

The "From the History of Metallurgy" section contains material telling about A. A. Auerbach, dedicated to the 175th anniversary of his birth.

In the “Chronicle” section, a meeting of the Federal Educational and Methodological Association in the system of higher education according to the enlarged group of specialties and training areas “Materials Technology” (UGSN 22.00.00) is highlighted.
