Chernye Metally
The January issue of the journal is opened by the “Steel Production” section. Inteco's innovative equipment for electric arc furnaces, solutions to increase their efficiency and operational safety are presented. The capabilities of a new circulation degasser at Ternium in the st. Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) were shown. The first part of the article devoted to ferroalloys discusses the raw material base and the dynamics of Russian production and consumption of basic (large-capacity) ferroalloys for 2002–2018.
In the section “Rolling and other metal forming processes”, the first part of the article is presented, which is devoted to the main trends in the development of rolled products, pipes and metal products in 2017–2019. The production of sheet, long products and metal products is considered. An article by foreign authors is devoted to Isra Vision's new technologies for two- and three-dimensional surface control of steel products, aimed at increasing the yield of high-quality products. Esslingen’s university research on determination of blisters using active thermography in order to identify the boundaries of applicability of this method and its optimization is described.
The section "Metal Science and Metallography" contains two articles. The first examined the effect of microheterogeneity destruction on the microstructure and crystal structure of 110g13l steel ingots (Hadfield steel): it is shown that these changes should increase the ductility and corrosion resistance of the metal. The second article is devoted to the features of cast and deformed steel used for the production of machine parts. The advantage of hot-deformed steel semi-finished products over cast in terms of mechanical properties is shown.
The section “Protection against corrosion” describes effective corrosion inhibitors that can be used to protect ferrous metals by introducing them into various technological environments at engineering enterprises.
In the section “Ecology and Recycling”, a methodology for optimizing the organizational and economic system of recycling, which can be successfully used for metallurgical processing wastes of ferrous metals ores benefication is proposed.
The section “On the 75th anniversary of the Victory” is devoted to the study of the chemical composition of the self-propelled artillery units armored steel produced by the Ural Heavy Machines Building Plant during the Great Patriotic War.
The January issue of the journal is completed by news of the iron and steel industry and the Chronicle section, in which the reader learns about the opening of the most efficient mini-thermal power station in the Urals at the Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant.
