Tsvetnye Metally
This issue traditionally begins with a review of the global non-ferrous metals market.
The Benefication section features an article about separation of components in waste cable recycling. Waste cable recycling has both economic and environmental benefits as both metals and plastics can be recycled and reused. The paper shows the possibility to produce a pure conducting metal (copper and aluminium) from waste cables by means of electrodynamic separation. The obtained results can be used for the development of technology and equipment for waste cable separation.
Noteworthy is a review of advanced processing techniques for copper-nickel sulphide concentrates published in the Heavy Non-Ferrous Metals section. The paper considers various pyrometallurgical processes employed by producers in Canada, USA, Australia, China, South Africa and Russia. The authors analyse the processes of electric smelting of raw, briquetted and roasted concentrates with further electric smelting of the resultant products versus autogenous smelting of concentrates. A variety of autogenous processes is examined.
Another highlight of the issue includes the following paper published in the Materials Science section: Effect of Heat Treatment on the Microstructure and Phase Composition of the (Mo)ss – Mo3Si Alloy Doped with Y or Sc. The authors formulated the problem, gave a detailed description of the methods applied (such as alloy preparation, DSC analysis) and described the obtained results. The paper features a significant amount of original experimental data.
The Chronicle section features a review of the International Conference “Plaksin Readings - 2019”.
